Perform dimensional inspection of springs using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
Conduct spring load and compression testing using calibrated load testers to verify force at specified heights, jounce, and working conditions.
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine product conformance.
Ensure compliance with applicable international standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, SAE, MIL-STD) during inspection and documentation.
Record inspection results accurately in quality documentation systems (e.g., inspection reports, non-conformance records).
Participate in first article, in-process, and final inspections of spring components.
Use and maintain gauge tools and equipment, ensuring calibration is up to date.
Identify and report non-conformances and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in inspection or mechanical quality (preferred).
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in spring production or mechanical inspection.
Proficiency in the use of hand tools and inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, indicators, load testers).
Familiarity with international quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASTM A370, ISO 10243, SAE J157).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection plans.
Strong attention to detail and good documentation practices.
Experience with quality software systems (ERP or QMS platforms) is a plus.
Ability to lift to 30 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Preferred: NDE II certified for Dye Liquid Penetrant and/or Magnetic Particle inspection.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing floor and quality lab environment.
May involve working near machinery, inspection equipment, and exposure to oils or lubricants.
