Organization: The Wilder
Location: Hybrid, candidates MUST be based in Vancouver, Victoria, Squamish, Whistler or Pemberton, and must have a car and be able to travel to events and occasional team work in Squamish
Who are the Wilder?
The Wilder is a creative studio which creates temporary public art installations and experiences for people to learn about nature, to connect with each other, and to inspire creativity. We produce events, create art installations, and create activations for festivals and events in the Lower Mainland.
Requirements
We have opportunities for youth to join our programs from now until February 2025. The roles are funded by federal wage funding and that program's requirements are that candidates must be aged 30 and under, who are Canadian citizens, refugees, or permanent residents to be eligible for these specific roles. The roles have a maximum of 16 weeks, the hours are flexible, as events and opportunities arise, and your part in the experience will depend on your skills. We are looking for candidates who possess any of the following skills, education and experience:
- Fabricators (welders, lighting designers, woodworkers, painters, people experienced with creating art installations, fabricating for sets, designing for creative experiences, setting up lighting or handy and able to help with installation and on event production teams etc)
- Digital artists (experience with AR, VR, renders, digital art and experiences, design)
- Arts administrators (you are happy behind the scenes coordinating artist contracts, logistics and procurement, booking meetings, taking minutes - helping anywhere that is needed!)
- Event assistants (help us at our events facilitating activities, setting up and striking, planning, coordinating, production etc)
Who are you?
We are flexible about who we bring on board because we love diverse interests and skills and we encourage diverse applicants to apply. The hours are flexible, require some weekend and event work, and are casual. We have a strong preference for candidates based in Whistler, Squamish, or Victoria. You must have a car and can drive to our event locations, and if based in the lower mainland you must be able to work in Squamish one day a week. We expect that the candidate will earn anywhere from $20 - $30 per hour depending on their experience, although we are open to discussion for outstanding candidates.
