A Product Designer within Accolade involves being a flexible and dynamic creative thinker with deep empathy for a diverse set of customers.
 

Core Competencies

As part of the Accolade UX Team, our Product Designers:

  • Participate in strategic initiatives ranging from research to rapid ideation and concept development to user validation.

  • Own a strong understanding of various functions and activities of the business. 

  • Partner with Product Managers and Stakeholders to understand and discover the opportunities and pain points of an initiative.  

  • Work with UX Research team members and resources delving into understanding our users identifying motivators and targeting key platform interactions. 

  • Play a role in cross-functional team design sprints and targeted initiatives in conceptualizing solutions through journey mapping, interaction / visual design, prototyping, and user testing. 

  • Deliver the best solutions that meet both user needs and business goals with a “member obsessed” experience approach.


Job Description 
  • The Senior Product Designer’s role also includes the following:

  • Ideation, wireframing, building prototypes and creating concept mockups 

  • Expert in the core design tools, proficient with research tools and methods

  • Ability to create and guide discovery sessions with the goal of creating user journeys that effectively illustrate tasks and interactions 

  • Ability to synthesize data insights correlate that to product experience decisions 

  • Strong understanding of principles of design, typography, color theory, and motion

  • Good understanding of the technology the product is built on (operating systems) and how the relates to specific UI decisions

  • Ability to understand the metrics that drive the business and employ UX principles to effect outcomes to meet business goals

  • Understand the implications of the UX strategy and how it effects technical implementation 

  • Help guide and evolve the digital brand aesthetic and experience 

  • Ability to design a project from beginning to end, considering and integrating all inputs along the way 

  • Be a key collaborator and partner with product management

  • Initiating product ideas and working with PMs and developers to evangelize and build them 

  • Be a teacher and mentor to more junior product designers

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex UX challenges and patterns 

  • Ability to inform stakeholders expectations regarding scope and time to deliver 

Role Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or related discipline

  • 5-8+ years' experience as a product or user experience designer 

  • Experience in all phases of the product design or user experience process, including user research (moderated and unmoderated studies, surveys), heuristic evaluation, wireframing, prototyping, concepting, etc.

  • A command of user-centered design principles 

  • Highly experienced delivering in an agile product environment 

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work with both product managers and engineering team members, bridging the gap of product vision and the pragmatic delivery of usable product experiences

  • Be a voice to promote an innovative product vision across the organization 

  • Be an advocate for the user
