What’s the position?

We are looking for a dynamic and insight-driven Director of Business Intelligence to lead our Sportsbook BI team. This role is focused on developing the team’s capabilities and outputs, with a strong emphasis on mentoring, insight generation, and helping the Sportsbook leadership team see beyond surface-level reporting.


The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. They will ensure the BI team delivers high-quality, actionable insights that influence decision-making, highlight opportunities, and improve the overall sportsbook performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and develop a team of BI analysts, fostering a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning to elevate the standard of analytics across the business
  • Act as the lead BI business partner to Sportsbook leadership, providing regular and ad hoc insight to support understanding of business performance and to surface opportunities and risks not evident in headline metrics
  • Lead the team in developing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of analytical tools, from dynamic dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI) to custom interactive web applications for data exploration using Python (e.g., Streamlit) to SaaS analytics solutions (Amplitude)
  • Ensure the team proactively monitors business performance indicators and communicates timely alerts to stakeholders when notable changes occur, with supporting analysis and context
  • Manage and prioritize data and reporting requests using Jira and Slack, ensuring clear communication and realistic timelines for delivery
  • Lead the creation and delivery of scheduled and ad hoc PowerPoint decks highlighting key trends, anomalies, and areas of concern or opportunity across the Sportsbook
  • Contribute to the investigation and resolution of incidents by supplying relevant data and analytical support
  • Partner with Data Engineering to influence the data roadmap and optimize our BI infrastructure, ensuring scalable and efficient data models across the data ecosystem
  • Partner with our AI Center of Excellence to ensure AI and automation are optimally employed to fulfil Sportsbook BI objectives
  • Champion innovation within the BI function by leveraging new technologies, tools, and methodologies, including the use of AI, to improve insight generation, automation, and the overall impact of analytics across the sportsbook
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve how the team delivers, communicates, and applies data insight across the Sportsbook function


What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing BI or analytics team, preferably within a sportsbook, gaming, or fast-paced digital consumer business.
  • Track record of developing and mentoring analysts to deliver higher-quality outputs and stronger commercial impact
  • Experience with performance management, including setting clear expectations and accountability measures while shifting team culture from reactive to proactive analytics
  • A strong track record of influencing senior leadership and translating complex data analyses into commercially impactful, actionable insights
  • Extensive experience leveraging a wide array of data technologies (eg Snowflake, Databricks, Tableau, PowerBI, Amplitude, Python, R, AI models, etc.) to understand and diagnose business performance
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a clear understanding of how to balance long-term projects and short-turnaround business needs
  • Curious, commercially minded, and confident challenging assumptions to get to the truth behind the numbers
