GGE5012 Marine Geology and Geophysics 4 ch (3C 1L)Descriptive marine geology including all ocean depths, but focusing on the coastal zone and continental shelf. Components of surficial sedimentology that affect the accuracy and operational conduct of hydrographic surveying. Detailed studies of the controls on seafloor processes (deposition and erosion) and bottom backscatter strength (sonar performance, geomorphology, sediment classification). Descriptive and introductory-theoretical marine geophysics including single-channel, 2D multi-channel and 3D multi channel reflection seismic surveying. Marine refraction seismology.
First-hand knowledge and experience in physical oceanography, tides and marine vertical datums, including experience with the Python programming language.
Thorough understanding of the course content, outstanding presentation and lecturing skills, and research experience in the subject area
Taken the course before as a student and, preferably, have been a teaching assistant for the course.
GGE5012 and GGE6303 will be taught together and at the same time as cross listed courses. Depending on the qualifications of the applicant, the course could be taught 100% remotely.
