Application Developer (FileMaker + API Integration)

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Application Developer with expertise in FileMaker and API integrations to join our in-house development team. In this role, you will maintain and enhance existing applications, develop new tools to support business operations, and help modernize the company’s digital infrastructure. You will collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across project management, sales, product, and support teams to deliver effective, scalable solutions.
As an Application Developer with Bureau Veritas, you will play a key role in building and optimizing the proprietary tools used by engineers and architects to assess buildings for capital planning, safety, energy efficiency, ADA compliance, and alignment with sustainability and net-zero carbon goals. Your work directly supports critical field operations, enabling professionals to evaluate whether facilities are fundamentally safe, accessible, and positioned for long-term operational resilience. Our mobile application has been instrumental in creating revenue through operation efficiency over the past several years, largely due to streamlining data capture, automating workflows, and simplifying complex inspection processes. The tools you develop will continue to drive both performance and purpose across our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the full development lifecycle of assigned projects, from planning through deployment.
- Maintain and enhance a complex, distributed FileMaker Go application.
- Integrate FileMaker with external databases (SQL Server, MySQL) and API endpoints to ensure reliable data exchange.
- Modernize legacy systems by implementing best practices in development and architecture.
- Support user adoption and troubleshooting through real-time assistance via phone, email, and remote sessions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
- Define and enforce development standards, naming conventions, and code quality practices.
- Participate in code reviews, testing cycles, and documentation efforts.
- Improve performance, security, and data integrity across distributed systems.
- Contribute to DevOps and CI/CD initiatives to streamline deployment and reduce technical debt.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience with FileMaker development, including scripting, database design, layout design, calculations, and security management is Required.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, including data exchange in JSON format.
- Familiarity with SQL queries.
- Strong grasp of software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively support internal users.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with a high degree of accountability.
Additional Experience (Nice to Have)
- QuickBase development
- ASP.NET or C# experience
- Experience working with geospatial data or ESRI platforms (e.g., ArcGIS)
- Familiarity with LLM APIs or platforms like AWS Bedrock
- Prior exposure to permitting systems, code enforcement, parcels, or licensing processes is a plus, though not required.
