This position will be responsible for providing effective support and customer service delivery in the areas of risk mitigation and compliance for the American Cancer Society (ACS).  In addition to providing support, this position will be responsible for working closely with government agencies and ACS team members to gather information for reporting and to facilitate compliance with certain licensing, reporting, laws and regulations.  This position will support the Sr. Consultant, Indirect Tax and the Sr. Consultant, Regulatory Compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitate the collection of prize winner tax information, withholding payments and IRS reporting from applicable fundraising activities.  25%
  • Assist with licenses and permits related to charitable gaming and alcohol; prepare and file defined regulatory reporting related to sales and use tax, property tax, business licenses, charitable gift annuities, and Censuses. 25%
  • Monitor and maintain exemption statuses and certificates for sales and use tax, property tax, and resale purposes across applicable jurisdictions. 20%
  • Facilitate compliance with IRS, state, and local regulations by staying current on reporting requirements and ACS policies related to fundraising and events. 10%
  • Develop and maintain documentation and resources to support internal compliance procedures and team member guidance. 10%
  • Assist the broader compliance team with unclaimed property filings, conducting sales and use tax and other regulatory compliance reviews, ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned, and serving as a backup to the Sr. Consultant, Regulatory Compliance and Sr. Consultant, Indirect Tax. 10%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, law or related field
  • Years of experience: 3 years relevant work experienced or equivalent of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and consulting skills with a strong customer-service orientation and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Maintains strong attention to detail and contributes to quality control processes to ensure accuracy in compliance reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with ACS financial systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, ACS Marketplace, SharePoint, iContract, and Workday.
  • Manages multiple priorities effectively and consistently meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The starting rate is $22 to $27/hourly. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended.
