Description

As the Warehouse Associate, you will support the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and its associated inventory. As part of the warehouse team, you are responsible for ensuring that all goods are physically moved and scanned to the appropriate locations daily. In this role you must be capable of maintaining organized shipping records and ensuring materials and shipments meet the customer’s quality and on-time demands. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Shipping & Receiving

  • Process products for shipment to customers, utilizing company computer systems (Radius) to identify customer specific requirements.
  • Utilize carrier shipment systems (UPS Worldship and Fed Ex) to set up and track shipments.
  • Run Pick Lists throughout the day ensuring that orders are being processed for shipment.
  • Coordinate with Customer Relation Specialist and Scheduling to ensure orders are being processed and shipped on-time.
  • Assist in off-line packaging including counting of product to place in bundles, bundle packing, shrink and stretch wrapping.
  • Receive incoming products, roll stock, finished products and miscellaneous items.
  • Unload and load trucks.
  • Notify Purchasing & Quality Manager of damaged incoming goods.

Material Handling

  • Review production schedule (PSA) and pull roll stock for presses using Stock Allocation Report and FIFO (First In, First Out).
  • Review daily schedule for specific stock products needed at each press.  Perform regular walk through of production area to determine schedule progress and job material needs.
  • Return roll stock and empty pallets from printing presses. Return stock to inventory, ensuring everything is properly scanned to the correct location.
  • Retrieve trash dumpsters from the production area and dispose of them in the outside dumpsters or compactor when needed.
  • Communicate with the finishing department to replenish pallets and boxes for shipments.
  • Assemble and tape cartons for the finishing operators.
  • Apply core tags to rolls, place rolls into cartons or bags, pack cartons with packaging material, tape cartons shut, apply the box labels, and place finished product on carts or pallets. 

Warehouse Inventory

  • Maintain a daily updated record of the inventory at our off-site warehouse and communicate with Supervisor and Scheduler to ensure our on-site physical inventory is stocked for press operation.
  • Coordinate deliveries back and forth to off-site warehouse, maintaining optimal space on-site and ensuring proper material is readily available for presses on hand.
  • Work with Finishing/Shipper on inventory pulls for needed shipments.
  • Pull inventory to ship for Plant-to-Plant transfers and schedule carrier for pickup.
  • Organize and condense roll material and finished goods to create warehouse space using First In/First Out method (FIFO).
  • Assist with monthly inventory along with variance reporting and corrections.

General

  • Attend daily production scheduling meetings.  Review with CRS’s and Scheduling on any late orders, orders on-time, or expedited orders. 
  • Follow and comply with all safety, work rules, and regulations.
  • Operate a Forklift, pulling inventory, loading / unloading trucks, etc.
  • Keep work area neat and orderly, adhering to 5S standards.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a shipping clerk, warehouse coordinator or similar role within a warehouse environment.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to use computers, including Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook and calendar.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with company employees, vendors, suppliers and customers.
  • Able to work as part of a team, in a collaborative manner.
  • Able to read work tickets and interpret written information to provide the proper supplies to the press.
  • Able to do basic math and measurements.
  • Must be proactive and detail oriented to catch problems or inconsistencies and bring them to management’s attention.
  • Able to maintain an organized work station including organized files, log books and shipment tracking records.

Physical Demands:

  • Capable of lifting, standing, crouching, stair climbing with a load and other repetitive tasks.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.

Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.

Personal Protective Equipment Required:

  • Steel toe shoes are highly recommended in the shipping and production areas.
