Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers supporting a multi billion dollar Aromatics Project at our Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex.  Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, MCP, this role is responsible for delivering safe, cost-effective, and technically sound engineering solutions by ensuring alignment across functional disciplines,, and driving team performance in support of business objectives. The Engineering Manager ensures excellence in engineering execution, fosters a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and serves as a liaison between technical teams and executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers across multiple disciplines (e.g., Process, Process Safety, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Civil/Structural) to deliver on project and operational priorities.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of engineering projects—scoping, planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout—ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Act as a key interface between internal engineering teams, Operations, HSSE, Maintenance, and Aromatics Project Team  to align project execution with business goals.
  • Provide technical oversight and assurance on engineering work products, ensuring application of industry standards, RAGAGEP, and Motiva practices.
  • Guide and mentor engineers through complex problem-solving, project challenges, and professional development.
  • Lead change management and issue resolution, applying proactive strategies to minimize project risks and disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across all engineering activities.
  • Directly engage with contractors, vendors, and external stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring contract deliverables are met.
  • Monitor team performance and engineering quality metrics, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Support leadership reporting with timely updates on project status, risk assessments, budget tracking, and key milestones.

Experience and Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in downstream oil & gas or petrochemical operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or technical leadership role.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of process safety, construction practices, and technical assurance processes.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Advanced experience with engineering project management tools and software.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (API, ASME, NFPA, OSHA PSM, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring technical professionals and fostering team development.
