Job description

Description

About Us:

Itential is a global leader in automation and orchestration for NetDevOps teams with products built to support both network and cloud infrastructure. We make it easy for enterprise organizations to reduce manual operations and simplify network management from Day 0/1 deployment, Day 2 changes, and beyond.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior UX Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a trusted part of our Product Operations leadership, working closely with Director, VP and C-Suite stakeholders to influence UX strategy and bring business and industry context to design decisions. This role demands expertise in the B2B SaaS product domain and knowledge of evolving industry trends, the ability to navigate complex challenges impacting entire product lines, and exceptional skills in leading user research initiatives while mentoring team members in advanced methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Complex UX Design: Lead the design and implementation of UX solutions for highly complex and ambiguous problem spaces that have long-term impact on product strategy and architecture. Create new design patterns, overhaul existing UX, or deprecate outdated interfaces while making appropriate trade-offs between user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
  • Drive Strategic Research: Lead user research initiatives in your product space, mentor team members in advanced research methodologies, and integrate user insights into strategic design decisions to enhance overall product usability and user satisfaction. Develop advanced research strategies that uncover deep user insights and identify emerging needs.
  • Influence Product Strategy: Significantly impact the overall user experience of major products, with your work directly contributing to user satisfaction and business success by shaping product strategy and roadmaps through deep understanding of users and market trends.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate the strategic value of UX research and design to senior stakeholders by connecting design decisions to business outcomes. Facilitate cross-functional workshops that align diverse perspectives around user needs and represent the design perspective in high-level product strategy discussions.
  • Design Excellence: Deliver UX artifacts that set the standard for design excellence in the organization, from user research insights to interaction designs and prototypes. Actively participate in and often lead design reviews, improving product delivery and aligning teams towards coherent UX strategies.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior and mid-level designers, elevating their skills and impact. Contribute thought leadership to the broader UX community, enhancing Itential's reputation in the field while educating the broader product development community on UX trends, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: Identify and tackle intrinsically challenging UX problems such as major usability bottlenecks, complex user workflows, or undefined opportunities with high potential impact. Apply pragmatic problem-solving skills, balancing competing interests in UX decisions and adapting approach based on project and product needs.
  • Talent Development: Play a significant role in recruiting UX talent and participate actively in the hiring process. Stay current with industry trends and effectively benchmark Itential's UX against competitors while contributing to intellectual property related to UX.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in UX design or a similar role, with demonstrated progression in leadership responsibilities and strategic impact.
  • Advanced Skills: Deep expertise in product domain and industry trends with an ability to anticipate customer needs. Proven experience managing high-complexity projects and innovating design solutions in ambiguous environments. Expertise in B2B enterprise software, DevOps tooling, or Network Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Research Mastery: Advanced proficiency in leading complex user research and usability testing initiatives, with experience mentoring team members in research methods and analysis. Ability to integrate user feedback into broader design strategies and advocate for best practices in UX research.
  • Strategic Communication: Exceptional ability to clearly articulate the strategic value of UX research to senior stakeholders and facilitate cross-functional workshops and design sprints. Experience representing design perspective in high-level meetings and industry conferences.
  • Leadership Impact: Demonstrated ability to significantly impact overall user experience of products, influence product strategy and roadmap, and mentor designers at various levels. Proven track record of contributing to UX Community through thought leadership.
  • Technical Acumen: Advanced understanding of technical specifications with the ability to collaborate with engineering for innovative solutions and influence architectural decisions.
