We are looking for a Backend Developer on our Promotions team to develop the server-side components of our web-based applications. This role is perfect for developers who excel at creating scalable APIs, optimizing application performance, and securing modern web platforms.

You have a command of backend web technologies, an understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), experience collaborating in a team setting, and an ability to turn complex requirements into elegant backend solutions. You'll help power the functionality behind our user-facing systems and ensuring our applications run smoothly, securely, and reliably and can scale to meet the ever growing needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop backend services, RESTful APIs, and server-side components using Node.js and Vue.js.

· Implement secure, scalable, and performant solutions that integrate with front-end applications and third-party systems.

· Data handling and business logic using efficient coding and caching strategies.

· Write well-documented, testable, and maintainable code with clear version control practices.

· Collaborate with a team, including Front-end Developers, QA, and Project Managers, and our clients' technical teams to deliver feature complete programs from concept to production.

· Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues promptly.

· Write technical documentation including API references, architecture diagrams, and deployment guides.

· Follow secure coding practices and help ensure compliance with internal and external security standards.

· Contribute enhancements to our underlying promotions platform.

· Familiar with Web Application Firewalls (WAF), especially AWS WAF.

Qualifications

· 2–5 years of experience in backend web development.

· Proficiency in server-side JavaScript (Node.js).

· Experience with Node.js and Express design principles.

· Experience with modern web protocols, API standards, and application architecture.

· Experience with unit and integration test patterns.

· Experience with SQL databases, schema design, and performance tuning.

· Grasp of web application security principles and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).

· Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, CloudFront, WAF, and Web ACLs.

· Working knowledge of HTML, HTTP, JSON, XML, SSL, TCP/IP, and how they apply to modern backend development.

· Experience with Java or Perl is a plus.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

The annual salary range for this position is$68,000 - $110,400. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
