Job description

R.J. Corman Railroad Company is hiring a Trainer - Rail Transportation based out of the Houston, TX area.
 
Accountability:

The Trainer position will facilitate and administer the full-cycle training process for R. J. Corman Railroad Company’s Training Center and field training services. Job duties include:

  • Facilitate new hire training courses
  • Lead in-person, on-the-job training
  • Administer programming for new hire certification and recertification classes
  • Facilitate rules classes for trainee certifications and certification renewals
  • Administer certification and renewal testing
  • Collaborate with operational groups to ensure rule compliance and training administration
  • Observe all operation and safety procedures
  • Maintain an excellent safety record
  • Maintaining an inventory of PPE, radios, switch keys, etc. to be distributed
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements: 

  • Requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
  • Must demonstrate vision and hearing abilities relevant to performing duties safely
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80lbs
  • Able to push and pull with up to 150lbs of force
  • 30% travel required

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:

FRA Conductor and Engineer certification required with 5+ years relevant experience (10 years preferred). Some knowledge in Maintenance of Way and Mechanical standards, Familiar with and able to apply safety rules and procedures, Self-motivated with good communication skills. Operations management experience beneficial.
