JOB SUMMARY:
The AOPA Foundation Program Coordinator provides comprehensive customer service support across multiple foundation initiatives. This role serves as a frontline representative for the You Can Fly High School initiative and the AOPA Foundation Scholarships program. Additionally, the Coordinator provides general support to the broader You Can Fly program. This role addresses inquiries and provides guidance to students, educators, scholarship applicants, and other stakeholders while ensuring exceptional service delivery that advances the Foundation's mission.
The AOPA Foundation’s High School Aviation Initiative consists of aviation pathways for students in grades 9-12 with fully developed year-long courses (a Career and Technical Education pathway) and provides associated teaching materials delivered through a digital platform to classroom teachers.
The AOPA Foundation Scholarships Program administers the awarding of approximately $2M annually in scholarships for primary flight training, advanced ratings/certificates, aviation maintenance, and more.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Coordinator, High School Initiative and Scholarships Program will perform a wide range of tasks designed to support the continued growth and smooth operation of the High School Aviation Initiative and Scholarships Program.
Execute High School Aviation Initiative’s daily operations, projects, and programs (50%):
Serve as primary point of contact for high school educators and administrators implementing the AOPA aviation STEM curriculum.
Respond to technical support requests and curriculum implementation questions via phone, email, and online platforms or refer inquiries to stakeholders as appropriate.
Coordinate registration and onboarding for new schools joining the program and renewal programs.
Assist with teacher professional development logistics and follow-up support.
Help maintain program data and track school participation metrics.
Execute Scholarship Program daily operations, projects, and programs (50%):
Provide responsive customer service to scholarship applicants and recipients.
Answer application process questions and troubleshoot submission issues.
Assist with application review logistics and committee communications.
Help process scholarship award documentation and coordinate disbursements.
Maintain scholarship recipient documentation and track program outcomes.
Support post-award follow-up and alumni engagement efforts.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
1-3 years of customer service experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple inquiries simultaneously
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with scholarship administration or nonprofit organizations strongly preferred
Knowledge of the aviation industry or educational programming preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in an office setting, in a climate-controlled environment.
Typical working hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is located at AOPA’s Frederick, MD headquarters.
The salary range for this position is: $45,000 - 52,000, depending on education and experience.
