Job description

Job Summary:
The Director of Paid Social Marketing position is responsible for leading the paid social acquisition strategy and execution to drive measurable business growth. Acting as a key contributor within the marketing organization, this role oversees the planning, development, and optimization of paid social campaigns across major platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and emerging channels. The goal of this role is to deliver scalable and profitable customer acquisition through data-driven decision-making and continuous performance refinement.

Responsibilities:

This position requires both strategic vision and hands-on expertise. This role is expected to manage and allocate multi-million-dollar budgets effectively, ensuring spend is optimized for maximum return on investment. The position is deeply involved in designing and executing A/B and multivariate tests to improve ad creative, audience targeting, bidding strategies, and lifecycle marketing efforts. Advanced attribution modeling and analytics will be used to assess impact, guide optimizations, and inform future investment decisions.

Collaboration is essential in this role. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams including creative, brand, analytics, and digital product teams to produce high-converting campaigns and frictionless user experiences. The role also contributes to the creative process by providing performance insights and working with designers and copywriters to develop engaging content that resonates with target audiences.

Additionally, this role is accountable for defining campaign KPIs, leading performance reporting, and presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership. This position must stay current with evolving platform capabilities, industry trends, and competitor activity to proactively adjust strategy and maintain a competitive advantage.

Ultimately, this position plays a mission-critical role in scaling the company’s growth through performance-driven social media marketing and is best suited for someone who thrives on ownership, innovation, and impact.

 Performance Outcomes

Strategy & Leadership

  • Own the overall paid social acquisition strategy, aligning efforts with broader marketing and business goals.

  • Lead the planning and execution of scalable paid social campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms.

  • Stay informed on evolving platform capabilities, industry trends, and competitor activity to ensure strategic agility.

Budget & Performance Management

  • Manage and optimize multi-million dollar budgets with a focus on efficient spend and strong return on investment (ROI).

  • Define, monitor, and report on KPIs and campaign performance to senior leadership.

  • Leverage advanced attribution models and performance analytics to inform and improve investment strategies.

Campaign Execution & Optimization

  • Oversee campaign execution from launch to iteration, including bidding, targeting, creative rotation, and audience segmentation.

  • Design and implement robust A/B and multivariate testing strategies to optimize ads, audiences, and lifecycle marketing tactics.

  • Continuously refine campaigns based on real-time insights and performance data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with creative, brand, analytics, and web teams to develop compelling ad content and seamless end-to-end user experiences.

  • Influence the creative process by sharing performance insights and ensuring messaging aligns with audience expectations and business outcomes.

  • Align with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency across channels and initiatives.

Reporting & Communication

  • Translate data into clear, actionable insights and communicate results and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Establish reporting cadence and deliver meaningful updates on campaign progress, learnings, and next steps.

  • Identify opportunities for growth and provide thought leadership in paid social best practices.

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in paid social media advertising, preferably within high-growth or digital-native organizations.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing high-budget, performance-driven campaigns with measurable ROI.

  • Advanced expertise in paid social platforms, including Facebook/Meta Business Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and other relevant tools.

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies; familiarity with tools such as Tableau and Looker is a plus.

  • Experience in regulated industries—such as financial services, legal, or insurance—is preferred.

  • Creative and strategic mindset, capable of blending innovation with performance-focused decision-making.

  • Hands-on and action-oriented; thrives in execution.

  • Takes full ownership and accountability for outcomes.

  • Collaborative and team-minded, with a natural ability to build strong partnerships across functions.

  • Confident and principled, willing to advocate for what’s right while remaining open to feedback.
