CATERING SALES MANAGER   

Four Seasons Hotel Seattle is looking for a Catering Sales Manager who shares our passion for excellence and is enthusiastic about creating the ultimate service experience. The Catering Sales Manager is a part of a dynamic team that provides award-winning service to our guests. U.S. work authorization is required for this position.

Located in the heart of downtown, the Hotel offers sweeping views of Elliott Bay and Puget Sound, just steps from Pike Place Market and the Seattle Art Museum. Our hotel is also home to Goldfinch Tavern, our signature restaurant in partnership with acclaimed Seattle Chef Ethan Stowell, showcasing simply prepared Northwest cuisine. 

 

Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:   

  • Proactively solicit and seek out new business and respond to inquiries with the intention of confirming profitable Corporate Catering business and achieving Quarterly Sales Goals. Maintain an active trace/follow-up system on all inquiries and personal sales calls.   

  • Negotiate with clients using creative and attractive menu presentations and event proposals, to achieve both maximum revenue/profit potential and fulfillment of contractual responsibilities while satisfying client needs.    

  • Coordinate with the Sales and Catering Department to ensure proper utilization of function space to yield maximum revenues.    

  • Conduct site tours and host prospective clients, including meeting and conference planners, with the goal of securing future bookings and building long-term relationships. 

  • Plan, attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel staff and clients, including but not exclusive to: Morning Operations Briefing, Resume Meeting, Banquet Event Order Meeting, Pre-Conference Meetings, Menu Tastings, and Planning Visits.    

  • Finalize the requirements of confirmed bookings while maximizing revenue potential through up selling and ensuring effective communication both written (BEO, Daily Reports, Resumes as needed) and personal contact with all departments for the success of the event. Maintain an active trace/follow-up system. Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and provide bill review on completion of program or event.    

  • Supervise the execution of all events. Review all function space with banquet manager. Ensure satisfaction of client at the outset of all events.   

  • Keep Director of Events promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matter so prompt corrective action can be taken where appropriate.    

  • Make timely and impromptu decisions, which balance client’s needs with the financial, safety and staffing goals of the hotel.    

  • Find solutions to the inevitable challenges that arise while groups are on property and keep Department Manager and Planning Committee promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters so prompt corrective action can be taken where appropriate.   

  

Desired qualifications for this position are but not exclusive to:   

  • Provide support to the Conference Services and Catering team as needed, especially during large group movements or when additional coverage is required. 

  • Assist with all guest inquires within the Sales, Marketing and Conference Services Department, including assistance with high telephone volume and walk-in site inspections.   

  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management.   

  • Be fully versed in the facilities and capabilities of the Hotel’s competitive set. Maintain a visible presence in the community through regular involvement with Industry associations.   

  • Assist in developing and executing projects for assigned market areas to increase catering activity, volume and profit.    

  • Act as the liaison for all vendor/supplier related client's needs, (i.e., Audio Visual, Florists, Entertainment, Transportation, DMC, Off-site Locations, etc.).   

   

Qualifications and Skills  

  • Minimum of one year of event sales experience in a hotel, private dining, restaurant, catering company, or conference services setting is required. Applications without this experience will not be considered. 

  • Embraces the Four Seasons culture of genuine care and service excellence. Prioritizes meaningful client connections, anticipates needs, and creates personalized, solution-oriented experiences that leave a lasting impression.  

  • Knowledge of both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. 

  • College degree in hospitality or a related field preferred; CMP certification is a plus. 

  • Professional communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are required.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, multitask efficiently, and thrive in a collaborative, cross-departmental team environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate high-pressure situations with poise. 

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a strategic mindset. 

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, holidays, weekends, and some evenings based on business needs. 

  • Golden Sales and Catering Computer Software, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and ability to use e-mail and the Internet required.
