We’re looking for a candidate who can facilitate:
- Building out new features to enhance our suite of home grown Rails Applications to facilitate communications with our various 3rd party integrations.
- Ensuring business continuity by aggressively testing our process and tools with automated testing suites.
- Improving transparency into our systems via logging, monitoring, and alerting
- Contributing to the growth and culture of the backend team
You will own features and work with various cross-functional teams and partners. In addition, you will collaborate with Tech leadership on defining milestones and identifying areas for improvement. This role reports into our Engineering Manager, Backend.
First Year Objectives:
- Month 1: Familiarize yourself with the current development process for the Backend team, meet all key stakeholders, familiarize yourself with (and help monitor and modify) the infrastructure.
- By Month 2: Continue to grow familiarity with some of our services by building upon a suite of features to improve operations. - By Month 6: Work with our Engineering Manager to deliver features on our newest service to facilitate Sales Order processing from Shopify.
- By Month 8: Work with our QA Engineer to help automate testing of our new Sale Order Service and ensure it’s ready for production.
- By Month 10: Better understand client-facing feature requests and their requirements from our business systems and integrations, and implement solutions facilitating a best in class experience.
- By Month 12: Lean into testing our infrastructure and integrations, and create meaningful dashboards, monitors, and alarms to keep us ahead of any potential issues ahead of the holidays.

- Can organize their code and cover with tests: You write readable, testable code with an emphasis on maintainability.
- Communication - Support teammates with documentation and thoughtful discussion: You can effectively describe technical concepts, challenges, and issues to both peers and stakeholders. You can communicate your thoughts in various forms, from planning notes to engineering docs to demos.

- Thoughtful with data in general, databases in particular: You model data in a way that is intuitive to understand and easy to ingest. You write performant queries when fetching from a data source.
- Practiced in RESTful API development and consumption: You follow standard best practices when working with RESTful APIs. You are comfortable using tools to test and verify APIs.
