Patent Docketing Specialist for Law Firm

Position Overview

We are seeking a Patent Docketing Specialist with at least 5-10 years’ experience to provide comprehensive patent and trademark docketing support throughout all phases of international and U.S. patent and trademark prosecution.

For operational alignment, we are currently prioritizing candidates located in or near the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone.

Salary and Benefits

This is full time position. Salary based on level of experience.

This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely management of patent and trademark-related deadlines, communications, and database records. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a deep understanding of patent and trademark prosecution procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review incoming communications from the USPTO and foreign associates to determine docketing requirements.
  • Maintain and update matters in the docketing database, including docketing deadlines, bibliographic data, and remarks.
  • De-docketing in response to attorney instructions.
  • Communicate with attorneys, staff, and the docketing team to ensure accuracy of deadlines and data.
  • Identify and resolve errors or omissions in the docketed information.
  • Navigate foreign Patent Office websites to verify and update records as needed.
  • Assist with additional departmental tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent written and oral English skills
  • 5-10 years’ experience
  • Strong knowledge of international and U.S. patent trademark prosecution procedures and deadlines, including Patent Cooperation Treaty
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
