Director of Travel Paramedicine

Salary: Starting at 110,000 - Bonuses available

Best Practice Medicine is seeking a National Director of Travel Paramedicine to lead our efforts to solve the EMS workforce issue and provide communities with professional and competent clinical providers.

What you will do
- Department Leadership and Management
- This role is all about leading and managing people and operations. You’ll use the five key practices of leadership and the five core practices of management to guide your work. You’ll be responsible for helping lead and support our Travel Paramedics, Points of Contact, Supervisors, and Operations Managers—ensuring they’re set up for daily success.
- Drive Strategic and Business Development Initiatives
- Responsible for the strategic growth and development of the department, this role leads the team in managing and expanding client relationships with both existing and prospective partners. Focused on securing new contracts, building long-term partnerships, and delivering tailored solutions to meet customer needs, this leader ensures all contractual obligations are successfully executed and fulfilled.
- Profit and Loss Management Tactics and Strategy
- Responsible for developing and managing the department’s annual operating and capital budgets, contract proformas, and overall financial performance. This role collaborates with the financial and executive teams to provide insight and guidance on short- and long-term strategies that align with and support the company’s growth objectives.
- Risk and Compliance Management
- Responsible for identifying and mitigating departmental risks, while actively participating in organization-wide risk management efforts. Supports safe operations across all teams and leads the response, coordination, and resolution of labor-related issues, leveraging both internal and external subject matter experts to ensure effective outcomes.
- Quality, Growth, and Recognition
- Responsible for ensuring the department's continuous quality, strong reputation, and sustained growth. Collaborates closely with cross-functional peers to align efforts and drive progress toward the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
In the first three months, you will
- Introduce and familiarize yourself with all existing Travel clients and contracts.
- Conduct Town Hall meetings at all locations with the Travel Operations Managers to introduce and familiarize yourself with assigned Travel staff.
- Develop a thorough understanding of short and long-term issues within the department and propose solutions for the top three issues to be solved in next 90 days..
- Become proficient with BPM operating software and platforms.
- Visit, in person, at least two existing travel clients.
In the first six months, you will
- Participate in the total travel paramedic sales cycle from initial client contact to the launch of operations in at least one new location/service.
- Analyze the departmental organizational structure and personnel needs against the operational tempo/demand. Make requests for staffing needs in the near term, 2025, to meet the organization's goals and growth needs.
- Participate and lead the Travel division in all FY 2026 budgeting activities while working with Finance to accurately implement and manage the FY 2026 budget.
- Work with the IT department to get the Travel Portal implemented and running.

- Ten years of leadership experience in locums, advanced practice clinicians, and the travel healthcare industry.
- Ten years of leadership experience in emergency medical services
- Five years of clinical experience in EMS or emergency medicine
- Proven track record in multi-million dollar rapid growth management
- Management of a staff of at least three hundred staff in at least eight states
- Responsible for organization's growth from 20 million to 100 million
- Significant labor law experience, including union, state, and federal DLI interactions and legal team management experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five years of leadership experience in EMS and/or temporary workforce management (Must include non-COVID experience)
- Management of at least one hundred staff operating in at least two locations
- Managed at least a 10 million dollar budget
- Managed multiple contracts and clients simultaneously
- Experienced in managing EMS or healthcare workforce shortages in recent years.
