Job Description:

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing and reporting of daily accounts payable functions, including but not limited to processing payments, expense tracking, reconciling accounts, general ledger, and maintaining a detailed record of all transactions. This position is also responsible for communicating with vendors regarding payment status or to resolve discrepancies.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and timely approvals in compliance with internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records and perform regular data entry and filing duties.
  •  Prepare and process weekly payment runs, including ACH transfers and check payments.
  •  Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, discrepancies, and documentation requests.
  •  Support month-end close process, assisting in accurate accruals for outstanding invoices.
  • Tracking and analyzing vendor activity and assist in reporting needs.
  •  Assist with internal audits and documentation for regulatory compliance and financial reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  •  Understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reconciliation processes.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent degree or job experience 
  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a financial institution setting.
  •  Strong proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Valued, but not Required Skills & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  •  Familiarity with banking operations, regulatory requirements, or finance-related internal controls.
  • Familiarity with banking systems (Jack Henry Silverlake experience a plus).
