Job description

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the GCAP & Accord Medical Lead, a 9-month secondment opportunity opened up for a highly experienced medical affairs colleague with background in multiple therapeutic areas, who understands Pfizer processes and is well-connected within the organization and preferably has Emerging Markets experience. The responsibilities of this role requires a Medical Degree. The job can be done from any Pfizer location with occasional travel to Accord countries (and to NYC if not NYC-based).

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the GCAP & Accord Medical Lead and GCAP Medical Lead, the Accord medical team, and broader GCAP Access and Accord Team to develop strategies and activities for the Pfizer portfolio as they relate to helping advance patient access to Pfizer medicines and vaccines as part of An Accord for A Healthier World (AAHW) and the Pfizer partners working collaboratively to serve vulnerable patient populations especially in lower and lower middle-income (LICs and LMICs) countries.
  • The GCAP & Accord Medical Director develops and executes strategies to support key Accord priorities and serves as thought partner to cross-functional leaders and colleagues (Accord commercial team, public affairs, access, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, etc.) in managing Accord medical and cross-functional projects.
  • This role will develop strategies and plan for Accord cross-functional Medical partnerships towards creating a culture of innovation and scientific decision making. Helps to design innovative solutions for improving safe and compliant use of Pfizer products in Accord countries.
  • Accord’s delegate as Medical/Clinical “HQ” liaison with Global Medical and Development Teams and International Medical.
  • Therapy area strategy and execution – focus on oncology, anti-infectives, I&I and vaccines mainly -  the work may include development and execution of medical education curriculum and providing medical input into commercial communication tools supporting these areas (including customization based on the Accord considerations, different labels etc.)
  • DFO and Insights “captain” of Accord team to enhance customer-facing focus of Accord MSLs and other Accord medical directors.  
  • Material adaptation from global/international and development (commercial and external communications) support – Accord cross-functional team’s objective is to create new and engaging content to include on our website and potentially leverage in other channels and these will include discussion / description of medical activities (education or engagement).
  • Medical / product resources – Need to assess Medical Information process for Accord, assess resources or support materials needed for MSL distribution.
  • Ongoing patient count modeling– considerable medical leadership needed to ensure that new product listings are correctly assessed and factored into the patient counts.
  • Pipeline and innovative product assessments – within existing framework to formally assess the pipeline and innovative products, including discussions with early commercial and clinical teams to integrate considerations for Accord into their longer term planning.
  • GCMA – we are designing an Accord custom GCMA process for which we will need a medical process owner to support content and claims development
  • Maintain quarterly Accord Medical newsletter.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • MD required. Advanced Degree in public health/public policy is a plus  
  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in medical affairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and partnerships with external stakeholders and with cross functional colleagues in a complex matrix structure. 
  • Experience in managing multi-dimensional and long-term relationships with patients, community and provider organizations required. 
  • Able to anticipate issues related to the delivery of project goals and manage risks. 
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills.   
  • Hands-on crisis and reputation management experience.
  • Strategic thinker, able to tackle complex issues and develop innovative solutions that result in winning partnerships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the business and the ability to translate business needs into strategic patient advocacy plans that advance the business unit and Company goals as well as patient advocacy groups’ goals.
  • Should be well organized, highly motivated, innovative and process driven with regards to problem solving and results oriented. 
  • Must be able to work 1) under pressure, 2) both independently and in a team environment, and 3) with all levels of the organization as well as patients, trade associations, government officials and advocacy groups.
  • Occasional travel to Accord countries. If not NYC-based also to NYC.
