Responsible during the shift for the QC laboratory during shift. Perform  the physical, attribute and raw material testing in order to assess the quality characteristics of products manufactured on the production machines.  Provide communication and instructions to Manufacturing, Converting and support areas regarding disposition of non-conforming product. This testing is performed to assist with the manufacturing control of products and to measure their conformance to established specifications.

 

Main responsibility areas

  • Participates in physical, attribute, and raw material testing required to assess the quality of products manufactured on the production machines.
  • Utilizes and calibrates lab testing equipment correctly.
  • Interprets Grade specifications adequately with little or no assistance.
  • obtain samples at the production machines, which involves use of a knife
  • Accepts or places product on Quality Hold, based on test results and specified properties.
  • Insures accurate documentation of worksheets and reports.
  • Attends training to maintain laboratory performance and to insure compliance with requirements.
  • Assures conformance to site safety and environmental procedures. Maintains the laboratory as outlined in standards. Adheres to safety procedures in all other departments and areas on site.
  • Perform attribute inspections as required
  • Performs various specialized testing, projects, or auditing duties as assigned.

Work experience

 

  • High school or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of previous quality testing and inspection experience preferred.

 

Formal education

 

  No requirements

Required competencies

 

 

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Understanding of AM and SOU grades
  • Familiarity using personal computers required, preferably Windows products. Ability to use and understand Optimill systems(CarelLab, CarelMill, Ahlflow).
  • Capable of utilizing the safe and proper procedures when using laboratory testing instruments and equipment.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize
  • Basic math skills required.
