Job Summary:

As a grief counselor, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate support and guidance to patients, families, and staff during some of life's most challenging moments.

Key Position Details:

  • 0.5 FE (40-hours per 2-week pay period)

Job Description:

Develops and implements bereavement care plans. Provides counseling and support to internal and external customers. Serves as a member and active participant with the interdisciplinary team.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements bereavement care plans for patients and families.
  • Counsels.
    • Provides counseling to family members of patient.
    • Conducts home visits, assessments and provides support before and after patient death.
  • Participates on interdisciplinary Hospice team.
    • Provides support to staff.
    • Leads team in death discussions.
    • Leads Remembrance ritual.
    • Attends case consultations.
    • Participates in the orientation of new employees and volunteers.
  • Plans and facilitates therapeutic support groups and retreats.
    • Collaborates in program development.
  • Educates.
    • Provides grief education to internal and external partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Spiritual Direction or
  • 2 to 5 years experience in counseling, social work, spiritual care


Licenses/Certifications

  • Ordained Minister in lieu of Master's degree required
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment

Pay Range

Pay Range: $30.39 to $41.65 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
