Job Description:

Mental Health Clinical Lead
Home-based (UK only) – Must be willing to travel to a Bupa site as required. Minimum once a month.
Permanent | Full-time (37.5 hours) – Flexible: 30 hours over 4 days considered
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + fantastic benefits

The Mental Health Clinical Lead plays a pivotal role in achieving this ambition. Working alongside fellow Clinical Leads, you will share responsibility for the clinical oversight of our Mental Health services and products. You’ll stay up to date with evolving guidelines and best practice and collaborate with leadership to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and customer service.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a visionary leader – someone passionate about both team development and advancing mental healthcare. You’ll bring substantial post-graduate experience in Mental Health, a strong leadership track record, and a relentless drive for excellence.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

  • Driving effective clinical performance and monitoring of Mental Health clinicians

  • Collaborating with the Clinical Head of Mental Health to deliver high standards of clinical governance, quality initiatives, education, and product development

  • Leading quality improvement initiatives that enhance clinical safety, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and business success

  • Supporting the delivery of Bupa Health Clinics’ Mental Health strategy

  • Undertaking regular clinical sessions (1 day per working week)

  • Developing sustainable CPD and career development opportunities for clinicians

  • Providing clinical input to commercial teams (e.g. Account Managers, Media, Product Development, Recruitment, Sales)

  • Advocating for clinicians in operational decisions and workforce planning

  • Acting as a trusted clinical voice, demonstrating integrity, initiative, and a changemaker mindset

  • Ensuring robust clinical policies and procedures are in place and consistently applied

  • Managing serious complaints and ensuring timely escalation where appropriate

  • Monitoring customer feedback and leading service improvement initiatives

  • Deputising for the Clinical Head of Mental Health as required

Key qualifications:

One of the following professional qualifications:

  • Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Doctorate, BPS & HCPC registered)

  • Accredited CBT Psychotherapist (Postgraduate Diploma, BABCP accredited)

  • Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist (Level 4+ Diploma, BACP accredited)

Key skills:

  • Substantial post-qualification experience in Mental Health

  • Proven leadership and relationship management experience

  • Experience in clinical quality standards, audits, and risk management

  • Incident and complaint management experience

  • Desirable: Experience in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

  • Strong communication, influencing, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent planning, analytical, and organisational abilities

  • Commercial awareness and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

  • IT proficiency and a solution-focused mindset
