Be the face of Hastings in the field and drive our growth.

Location: Remote/ Field: Must reside in Southwest Michigan (e.g., Lansing, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, or Hastings).
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with regular travel throughout the assigned territory.

As a Territory Sales Manager at Hastings Insurance, you’ll serve as a vital bridge between our company and our independent agency partners. This field-based position is responsible for driving profitable business through agency relationship management, underwriting support, market analysis, and agency training. With autonomy to manage a key geographic region and authority to guide underwriting decisions, you’ll play a direct role in Hastings’ continued growth and market strength.
What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and develop strong agency partnerships across an assigned territory.
  • Deliver hands-on underwriting support within your authority, providing guidance on coverages, limits, and risk selection.
  • Support 60–100 independent agencies representing $25–50M in direct written premium.
  • Deliver training to agency personnel on quoting, submissions, and Hastings products.
  • Monitor agency productivity and loss performance; recommend actions to optimize results.
  • Analyze territory performance data and prepare marketing reports to drive strategy.
  • Prospect and recommend new agency appointments and terminations as needed.
  • Actively monitor the marketplace and inform the organization of competitor activity.
  • Travel frequently within the territory, including occasional overnights.
Additional Role Highlights:
  • Company vehicle provided.
  • Reports to a Regional Sales Manager and works independently in a field setting.
  • This is a fully remote position with strong collaboration across departments.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years in Property & Casualty insurance, with a strong focus on Commercial Lines and agency-facing roles.
  • CIC, CPCU, or other professional designations preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of underwriting, rating, and agency management.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and analytical abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet our fleet safety standards.
