September – December 2025

Position Title: Medventions Intern (Multiple Openings) – Interventional Cardiology

Clinical Focus Areas Available: Emergency Medicine OR Interventional Cardiology

Are you passionate about solving real-world challenges in health care through innovation? The Medventions Internship Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre offers aspiring innovators a unique opportunity to work on high-impact medical technology projects embedded within clinical environments.

About Medventions

Medventions is a high-intensity, hospital-based innovation program hosted by Sunnybrook Research Institute. Over four months, interdisciplinary teams of students and early-career professionals collaborate with leading clinicians, researchers, and industry mentors to identify unmet clinical needs, generate novel ideas, and develop early-stage prototypes that aim to transform patient care.

Interventional Cardiology Track: Work alongside cardiologists in Sunnybrook’s state-of-the-art Schulich Heart Program. Focus areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Innovations in image-guided therapy
  • EP opportunities (i.e. technologies supporting cardiac device implantation and ablation procedures)
  • Technologies supporting structural heart interventions
  • Tools for peri-procedural planning and support
  • AI, wearables, robotics, and automation to streamline workflow and decision-making

Participants Will Either

  • Identify new clinical problems through direct observation and clinical immersion, or
  • Work on pre-validated, high-priority clinical needs already identified by Sunnybrook physicians.

Program Structure

The Internship Spans Three Immersive Phases

  • Clinical Immersion & Needs Identification
  • Ideation & Concept Development
  • Prototyping & Early Validation

Interns will work in interdisciplinary teams with support from clinical, engineering, and business mentors.
