We are recruiting for part-time, game night staff for the Orlando Magic, Osceola Magic, and Orlando Solar Bears.  Whether you are a college student, a teacher with a flexible schedule, someone looking to re-enter the workforce, or someone just looking for additional income, our part-time, event roles could be perfect for you.

What our Part-Time hiring process is like:

While every position is different, our part-time hiring process is typically a two-step process, sometimes more depending on the nature of the role.  After you apply, your resume will be reviewed by our hiring manager for that particular role.

After interviews have been conducted, candidates whom the hiring manager selected will be contacted by our Talent Acquisition team.  Candidates who are not selected to move forward will be contacted via email.  We would love to call 100% of the candidates, however we typically interview well over 250 candidates during this part-time hiring week, and we want to give every candidate the decision as soon as possible.

 

A quick summary about the Role:

This role will support operations of Broadcast Technology and Services department at Kia Center, Advent Health Training Center, Osceola Heritage Park (G-League), and CNL Magic Offices.

The primary role is that of providing AV Tech support at venues listed including events but not limited to Orlando Magic, Osceola Magic, Solar Bears Hockey games, Arena Football, concerts, and other Orlando City Venues corporate/hospitality engagements.

The AV Support Technician is required to follow all protocols and procedures for properly executing his/her role related to a scheduled event.

 

What the position will be responsible for:

  •  Setup and strike of various event setups including areas of NBA Technology (Swiss Timing Tissot Scoring, Precision Time and Daktronics All Sport systems), in-arena broadcast equipment, Clear-Com/Riedel Communications, VITEC EZTV IPTV systems, and Daktronics LED equipment. 
  • Will work and coordinate with other BTS Full Time staff, including AV Systems supervisor, EIC, A1, and/or additional part-time Audio-Visuals Event Technicians in support of games/events.
  • Will directly work with BTS support staff at other Orlando Magic venues and off-site locations.
  • Assist to ensure the AV required for the event(s) scheduled is set and/or struck correctly.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various types of A/V setups. 
  • Operate small audio consoles and associated outboard gear from 4 to 48 channels.  Experience with analog and digital consoles, experience with Yamaha QL is a plus. 
  • Execute small and large corporate conference event setups throughout venue(s). 
  • Provide technical support for various Orlando Magic game-day departments on event and non-event days. 
  • Always maintain a safe and organized work environment. 
  • Operate arena Creston control systems in hospitality rooms/areas. 
  • Able to operate PC and Mac platforms with video TV/projection systems. 
  • Assemble and operate portable audio systems. 
  • Manage and maintain source control devices and custom control systems. 
  • Manage cable installation & terminate a wide range of audiovisual and data connectors. 
  • Build equipment racks and dress all cabling in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work around heights over 100 FT. 
  • Operate and setup spotlights and have basic knowledge of lighting equipment. 
  • Record and maintain sufficient inventory of bulbs, batteries, cables, power supplies, etc.  
  • Reporting any equipment failure. 
  • Perform light maintenance / repair and work with vendors as required. 
  • ​​Makes decisions with little or no choice as to the methods and procedures used in achieving results​. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

What is required for the role:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 2 Year College Degree or equivalent AV work experience
  • Exhibit excellent knowledge of live audio principles, microphones and sound re-enforcement required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional audio experience
  • Demonstrate knowledge of audio and video signal flow as which would include the Broadcast Infrastructure at Kia Center preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity as it pertains to event setups and all ancillary equipment
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.
  • Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.

 

Physical requirements

Position involves physical activity – lifting 50(LBS), standing or sitting for long periods of time, extensive walking, and working in elevated catwalks (excess of 100’)
