JOB SUMMARY: 

The Human Resources Generalist will support the day-to-day operations of the HR department within a fast-paced construction flooring environment. This position has a strong focus on employee engagement, compliance, support of employee transactions and payroll processing, and HRIS management using UKG. The ideal candidate acts as a HR Ambassador who is creative, proactive, and detail-oriented HR professional who thrives in a hands-on role and is comfortable traveling to job sites and regional offices. This is a hybrid position that requires in office workdays in our Tacoma and Everett office locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Design and implement engagement initiatives that integrate operations and field-based flooring installers into the company culture that provide meaningful channels for feedback, retention and recognition. 
  • Conduct engagement surveys in English and Spanish that support management in developing and tracking action plans. 
  • Draft, coordinate, and distribute company-wide HR-related communications, announcements, and policy updates in English and Spanish. 
  • Travel to regional offices and job sites to provide in-person HR support, facilitate onboarding, address employee concerns, and reinforce company culture. 
  • Serve as an HR ambassador, maintaining visibility and trust across a geographically dispersed workforce. 
  • Provide administrative support for weekly and biweekly payroll using UKG Pro, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. 
  • Maintain and update employee records in UKG HRIS, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and benefits. 
  • Generate reports and dashboards from UKG for audits, compliance, and internal analytics. 
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state labor regulations, safety standards, and internal HR policies. 
  • Support internal audits, maintain I-9 and personnel files, and ensure proper documentation. 
  • Assist with onboarding, benefit enrollments, offboarding, and employee relations issues. 
  • Serve as a liaison with HRIS vendors and provide user support/training to staff as needed. 
  • Collaborate with field leaders and support departments to ensure consistent HR practices and messaging.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 
  • 2–4 years of HR experience, with direct experience in associate engagement programs and HRIS systems, preferably UKG Pro. 
  • Prior experience in the construction or skilled trades industry highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of employment regulations. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and travel as needed. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and reporting tools. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and possess vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience supporting a multi-site or field-based workforce. 
  • Experience with UKG HRIS and Time & Attendance a strong bonus. 
  • Experience in a multicultural and multilingual work environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach during visits to job sites or warehouse environments. 
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., carrying HR materials or equipment during office visits). 
  • The ability to travel by car or plane to multiple locations as required. 
  • Comfortable working in environments that may include noise, dust, and varying temperatures during site visits.
