Who are we:

Connected Analytic Services (CAS) helps Toyota vehicle owners access better insurance options. As Toyota Insurance’s designated data partner, we share your vehicle’s telematics data with participating insurers with explicit owner consent to unlock personalized data-driven insurance product offerings.


Job Overview:

The Telematics Underwriting Lead will play a strategic role in the development, execution, and management of telematics data-driven products designed to enhance quoting, data-sharing, and our lead generation processes within the personal auto insurance space. This individual will work closely with stakeholders across Toyota entities and carrier partners to ensure privacy and transparency associated with ingestion, distribution and retention of driving behavior data, always striving to add value to the vehicle ownership experience.

 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the innovation, development, and delivery of new underwriting products using telematics data from connected Toyota, Lexus and Mazda vehicles.
  • Own and evolve products that impact data supplied at time of quote, data for ongoing monitoring, and lead generation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Toyota Connected and Toyota Motors North America, and other Toyota entities to ensure seamless integration of telematics capabilities and privacy compliance.
  • Translate business needs into technical product requirements, analytical solutions, and actionable insights.
  • Serve as the voice of the vehicle owner and carrier partner in product design, ensuring underwriting products drive both customer value and operational efficiency.
  • Create and manage product roadmaps and backlogs using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Write user stories, define acceptance criteria, and ensure timely delivery of features and enhancements.
  • Develop and deliver presentations that clearly communicate product performance, usage of KPIs, and strategic value to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory considerations impacting underwriting data usage.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure all solutions align with relevant insurance and data privacy laws.
  • Build strong relationships with vendor partners and support contract negotiations when applicable.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in personal auto insurance, underwriting, product development, or data strategy (telematics experience is a strong plus).
  • Strong understanding of the quote-to-bind process and underwriting workflows.
  • Experience in working with or managing data-driven underwriting or lead generation products.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of personal auto insurance underwriting processes and data.
  • Proven experience in managing data-centric insurance products or platforms.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to derive insights from complex data sets.
  • Familiarity with insurance-related privacy regulations, including consent and opt-in practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) preferred.


Certifications (Preferred):

  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
  • Associate in Personal Insurance (API)
  • AWS Certification or other cloud/data-related credentials

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $89,000-$130,000 based on skills and experience
  • Bonus eligible


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Onsite: 08:00 AM-5:00 PM
