Packaging Engineer - Lighting and Energy Technologies

We’re hiring a mid-level Packaging Engineer for a well-established global manufacturer known for delivering lighting, energy, and solar technology solutions across consumer, commercial, and export markets. This role is based at their Boston-area regional headquarters and is open due to upcoming succession planning.

In this role, you’ll lead the design, development, and documentation of packaging systems -ranging from primary to tertiary - for a diverse product portfolio. Working cross-functionally with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, and Manufacturing teams, the Packaging Engineer will drive packaging innovation, support sustainability initiatives, and improve cost-efficiency and supply chain effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and test packaging solutions for various markets and applications
Develop and manage packaging specifications, bills of materials, and documentation
Support sales with packaging prototypes and mock-ups for customer presentations
Lead cost-reduction and benchmarking initiatives across packaging systems
Create branded/unbranded corrugated graphic specs aligned with ISO standards
Contribute to global sustainability goals by developing eco-friendly, paper-based solutions
Ensure quality and vendor compliance during packaging transitions and sourcing changes

Qualifications:

Strong creativity, mechanical aptitude, and enterprise software skills
Experience in packaging design, converting, and supply chain collaboration
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, quick-to-market manufacturing environment
