A Database Administrator II is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the databases to support the computing environment. Under direct supervision, a Database Administrator II will work through project related activities, as well as day-to-day operational tasks related to the database systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle and SQL Server databases in on-prem and hybrid cloud environments.
Monitor and optimize database performance; write, debug, and tune complex SQL and PL/SQL or T-SQL queries.
Manage and test backup and disaster recovery strategies using native tools (RMAN, SQL Server native backups, etc.).
Configure and support high availability solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, RAC, Always On, Log Shipping, Failover Clustering).
Participate in weekly rotating on-call shifts and respond to alerts, incidents, and outages in real time.
Perform after-hours maintenance activities and support application code deployments during nights and weekends as needed.
Use a ticketing system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) to manage and prioritize tasks.
Use version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) to maintain and deploy database code and scripts.
Collaborate with development, operations, and infrastructure teams to provide database expertise and ensure system stability.
Be open to learning and supporting additional RDBMS platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) as needed.
Proven experience as a DBA supporting both Oracle (12c and above) and SQL Server (2012 and above) in enterprise environments.
Strong SQL, PL/SQL, and/or T-SQL skills with experience debugging, tuning, and planning rollbacks.
Experience with backup and recovery, replication, and high availability architectures.
Familiarity with connection pooling and resource management.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently context switch in a fast-paced setting.
Comfortable working independently and proactively engaging in team activities.
Willingness to work on-call and during off-hours for critical support and maintenance windows.
Experience using ticketing and version control systems.

College degree or equivalent experience
5+ years database administration experience
Exceptional problem-solving skills
Above average oral and written communications skills
Willingness to work flexible schedule including nights/weekends
Must work well in a team environment
