Associate Software Engineer

Who are we looking for? 

As an Associate Software Engineer at XiFin you will be part of a high-performing team contributing to the development and enhancement of our Laboratory Information System (LIS) tailored for pathology laboratories reporting directly to the Sr. Director Software Engineering. 

In this role, you’ll play a critical part in our strong foundation of software development to engage meaningful work that directly impacts healthcare operations and work cross-functionally with departments across XiFin. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that values continuous learning, mentorship, and operational excellence.

What will you do?

• Design, develop, and maintain Interfaces using JavaScript and Java. In addition, web-based applications using C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server, ensuring high-quality and efficient code.
• Work closely with stakeholders, database administrators, and development team members to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Implement and manage web services to facilitate seamless communication between LIS components and other healthcare systems.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design specifications, code comments, and user manuals.
• Conduct unit testing and debugging to ensure software reliability and performance 
• Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies to continually enhance the LIS platform

This is an onsite position at our office in San Diego, CA.

What education and experience do you need? 

A combination of the following education and experience factors will be considered:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Up to 3 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on C#, VB .NET, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience with web services and API integration.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Understanding of database design and management using SQL Server.
• Possesses strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Someone who is detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality software.

Nice to Have: 

• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or Electronic Health Records (EHR). HL7 or other interfacing formats.
• Understanding of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git

What does the position pay:

Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location. 

The expected range for this role is $90,000-$110,000 annual compensation. Please note this range is an estimate and actual may vary based on qualifications and experience.
