Job description

Role Summary: The Manufacturing Plant Quality Head is responsible for managing and overseeing all quality-related activities within the manufacturing plant. This role ensures that all products meet the required quality standards and specifications, and that quality processes are implemented and maintained effectively. The position involves working closely with suppliers, internal teams, and customers to ensure quality compliance and continuous improvement.

Roles and Responsibility:

Incoming Materials Management:

  • Manage incoming materials from all suppliers following the Ashirvad Quality plan.
  • Ensure OK parts are approved in the SAP system and provide feedback to suppliers on Not OK parts for proper root cause analysis and action plans to prevent defects from reaching the plant.

Production Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the First Part approval process for all extruded pipes and fittings conforms to quality requirements as per the Ashirvad Quality system.
  • Conduct routine inspections of part quality at fixed frequencies to ensure mass production parts meet quality requirements.

Testing and Inspection:

  • Conduct testing of products as per the annual testing plan at regular intervals according to SOP.
  • Conduct final inspections of solvent cements and primers as per the quality plan to ensure no defective parts go to finished goods (FG).

Process Audits and Control:

  • Conduct process audits as per plan and address any gaps in the process.
  • Monitor critical parameters through SPC (Statistical Process Control) to control the process in normal conditions.
  • Highlight any issues to the Plant Head / GM – QA for immediate resolution.

Finished Goods Management:

  • Ensure FG parts are stored as per the agreed SOP and monitor the FIFO system.
  • Supervise the testing processes conducted as per the agreed QA plan and review the reports for correctness of data.
  • Pick random samples from FG and conduct testing as per the QA plan to ensure all parameters are within specification.

System Audits and Compliance:

  • Ensure system audits as per Ashirvad IMS (Integrated Management System) are conducted as per the annual plan.
  • Share audit reports with the CSO coordinator and ensure all non-conformances (NCs) are closed as per the agreed timeline.

Customer Complaint Management:

  • Attend to customer complaints in coordination with the CSO team.
  • Ensure complaints are analyzed along with the CFT (Cross-Functional Team) from the plant and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and corrective actions are submitted as per the agreed timeline with the customer.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop an annual plan for the budget to ensure quality enhancement in the plant.
  • Ensure continual improvement is planned for the plant to achieve zero defects in the process.
  • Monitor the Poka-yoke / interlocks to ensure they are working at all times as per the SOP.

Role Specific Competencies:

  • Proven experience in a quality management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems [ISO 9001:2015]
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement in Quality
  • Certification in ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Total Quality Management (TQM) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is preferable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
