Senior Architect Healthcare Integration - EMR/FHIR Specialist

What You'll Be Doing

Drive Healthcare Transformation Through Technology

  • Architect enterprise-level EMR integration solutions using FHIR and other healthcare interoperability standards
  • Design integration strategies that enable value-based care delivery across Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, and other major EMR platforms
  • Create technical specifications and system architecture that support clinical evidence alignment and quality improvement initiatives
  • Lead API design and development for seamless healthcare data exchange between provider organizations and health plans
  • Design systems that support population health management and care coordination across multiple specialties
  • Implement real-time data synchronization that enables timely clinical decision-making

Lead Technical Excellence

  • Provide architectural guidance to development teams on FHIR implementation best practices and healthcare data standards
  • Establish coding standards and integration patterns that ensure scalability and maintainability
  • Mentor engineering teams and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation
  • Collaborate with clinical, product, and business teams to translate healthcare transformation goals into technical solutions
  • Design integration architectures that maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy
  • Implement robust security frameworks for Protected Health Information (PHI) handling

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare software development and system integration with a passion for improving patient outcomes
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing HL7 FHIR (R4 preferred) in complex healthcare environments
  • Expert knowledge of healthcare standards including HL7 V2, CDA, DICOM, and X12
  • Proven track record integrating with major EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, athenahealth) in value-based care settings
  • Strong proficiency in REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and healthcare messaging protocols
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS, GCP) and healthcare-specific services
  • Advanced programming skills in Java, C#, Python, or similar enterprise languages
  • Database expertise with both SQL and NoSQL technologies for healthcare data management
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and complex integration projects that impact patient care
  • FHIR certification or active participation in HL7 standards development is preferred
  • Experience with SMART on FHIR applications, CDS Hooks, and clinical decision support systems is preferred
  • Background in value-based care models, risk adjustment, and quality measurement programs is preferred
  • Experience with healthcare analytics and population health management platforms is preferred

Healthcare Domain Knowledge That Matters

  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows, value-based care models, and healthcare economics
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITECH, 21st Century Cures Act, CMS programs)
  • Experience with clinical terminologies (SNOMED CT, ICD-10, LOINC, RxNorm) and quality measures
  • Understanding of healthcare interoperability initiatives (TEFCA, SMART on FHIR, DaVinci Project)

Collaborative Leadership

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to align technical solutions with clinical and business objectives
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional healthcare teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities focused on improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes

Technical Requirements:

We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $88,300 - 167,800. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent is proud to offer comprehensive benefits (including health insurance benefits) to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
