About the Role: 

We are seeking a Schools Engagement Program Leader for a Part-time (22.8 hours/week) placement based in Divisional Headquarters (DHQ SA/NT), Fullarton SA

Purpose of the Role:

This role is grounded in educating young people about social challenges of today, empowering them with language and the knowledge to seek support for themselves or other in times of hardship and activating students to take social justice action. Join us to deliver educational workshops and engage school communities in key Salvation Army campaigns, such as the Red Shield Appeal and the Christmas Appeal. This role will drive the delivery of the Salvos Schools program in SA/NT to support more young people to come to meaningfully know and connect with the Salvos.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The Schools Engagement Program Leader – SA/NT reports to the National Schools Engagement Manager. In this role, you will be required to deliver a range of workshops and resources to schools regarding social justice and the work of The Salvation Army.

  • You will assist Salvation Army expressions to better engage with schools and provide divisional schools engagement support and resources to Salvation Army leaders.

  • This role requires you to foster and manage relationships with state educational bodies, predominately primary and secondary schools. 

  • We are looking to increase the number of schools we engage with in the division and so relationship development with school leaders and teachers is a key focus of the role.

  • Within the role, you will engage with students delivering workshops, garnering schools’ engagement with key campaigns and nurturing opportunities for engagement in line with the schools engagement strategic direction and the objectives of the broader External Communications team.

  • This role is based on the Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters in Fullarton, Adelaide with some capacity to work from home.

  • The role involves frequent travel to schools within Adelaide and occasional travel to other South Australian or Northern Territory regions a few times per year.

About You/ Skills Required:

  • You’re a confident facilitator with proven experience delivering school workshops and strong knowledge of the education system.

  • Skilled in relationship management, you build and maintain meaningful school partnerships with ease.

  • A self-starter, you’re passionate about service learning and social justice.

  • Your strong admin and communication skills ensure positive stakeholder experiences.

  • You’re organised, collaborative, and committed to team and organisational goals.

  • Tertiary qualifications in education, communications, youth or community work—or equivalent experience—are essential.
