Overview:

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Senior Manager, Analytics Engineering. In this role, you'll lead a talented team of engineers tasked with creating authoritative and dependable data foundations across the organization. Your team will focus on converting raw base-layer data into highly optimized, curated datasets, and disseminating this information to key stakeholders. This role will partner with internal stakeholders to comprehend their needs, while liaising with our Data Engineering team to ensure the delivery of high-quality data solutions. Your hands-on expertise and mentorship will be invaluable for guiding the team in industry best practices. The ideal candidate will be energized by the opportunity to lead this evolving team, with ample scope for career progression, all while working on state-of-the-art AWS technology to develop and support our lake house architecture. 

What you’d be doing: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand organizational needs and provide comprehensive data solutions that can be implemented across the company. 
  • Lead a team of analytical engineers to complete projects within stipulated timelines. 
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to identify and source essential data for fulfilling your deliverables. 
  • Mentor team members in best practices for generating curated datasets and streamlining data pipelines. 
  • Promote data-driven culture and awareness throughout the organization. 
  • Drive and maintain a robust data dictionary for curated datasets with the team. 
  • Design and oversee the ETL workflow processes, transitioning base-layer data into curated datasets. 
  • Transform lake house data into consumable datasets within Athena and Redshift platforms. 
  • Write reusable code and modules for executing data transformation logic. 
  • Formulate QA strategies to ensure the datasets produced serve as reliable sources of truth. 

We’re looking for someone who has: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics or a related field preferred 
  • Quantify overall years of experience needed in Analytics Engineering. 
  • 3+ years of experience leading analytical engineering teams.  
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, particularly in interacting with senior leaders within the organization and cross-collaboration settings.  
  • Proficiency in managing production databases, such as RedShift, SQL Server, Athena, and Postgres. 
  • Proficiency in PySpark programming. 
  • Proficiency with ETL frameworks, such as AWS Glue. 
  •  Remove based on above requirement on communication. 
  • Strong SQL, data analysis, and business analysis skills. (Instead of proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL code across multiple dialects.) 
  • Proficiency in AWS architecture, including S3, networking, and database solutions. 
  • Creation of reusable methodologies and industry standards. 
  • Proficiency with Data Lakes and/or Data Warehouses. 
  • Proficiency in creating data pipelines that generate well-curated datasets. 
  • Proficiency in designing data delivery systems for high-volume, near real-time reporting.
