We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Human Capital Services Center (HCSC). This role is fully remote and requires a U.S. citizen due to the nature of the federal contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, performance tuning, and cloud infrastructure, with specific experience in the healthcare industry.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize databases including Microsoft SQL ServerMySQL, and ETL processes.
  • Develop and execute complex SQL queries to support data analysis and reporting needs.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal operation.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and availability across all database systems.
  • Collaborate with IT support teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
  • Support data migration and integration efforts within cloud-based environments.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards.

Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Public Trust Clearance eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong proficiency in SQLETL, and database performance optimization.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and database hosting in cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with federal agencies or government contracts.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards in healthcare (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation tools.
