Job description

Medical Receptionist Assistant, Oncology Practice, Southern Suburbs, Cape Town

Our client, an Oncologist Specialist in the southern suburbs of Cape Town is looking to employ a medical receptionist to assist the senior receptionist within the practice. The ideal candidate will be endearing and compassionate of nature, well suited to working within an oncology medical practice.

The location will be hybrid-based (working from home remotely & office) until bigger offices are available, you will then be required to work at the office fulltime.


​Requirements:

  • Greet and assist patients in a courteous and kind manner, whether in person or telephonically.
  • Diary management
  • Schedule appointments for the patients for consultations in the practice as well as any external healthcare professionals for patients (i.e., radiology, laboratory, admissions, referral doctors etc.)
  • Attend to patient enquiries.
  • Create and update patient electronic medical records.
  • Request any clinical documentation prior to doctor's appointment (i.e., lab results, referral letters etc.)
  • Obtain and update medical aid authorizations.
  • Assist with medical aid applications and follow up with the schemes where required.
  • Uphold the ethos and vision of the practice.
  • Keep reception area tidy and clean.
  • General administration
  • Assist the senior receptionist and doctor with any administrative duties
  • Stand in for the senior receptionist when she is on leave


Qualification:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar medical administration position
  • Experience in an oncology practice will be advantageous
  • Experience with medical aid authorisations is essential
  • Microsoft office suite experience and computer literate
  • Medical software experience will be advantageous (PMO & Elixir)

Working hours:

Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 17h00 with overtime as required.
