Overview of role:

 

The Senior Developer, Digital Analytics & Martech Implementation is responsible for the technical implementation process involving new and existing measurement across WestJet's many digital products, touch-points and campaigns. This role exists to have robust digital product analytics, marketing pixels and assorted marketing and customer experience technologies in place, enabling stakeholders with the required data and insights they need for data-driven decision making.  Although the role is very oriented around technical enablement, this person is an active participant within the end-to-end data collection lifecycle (where it makes sense), to ensure their expertise and ideas influence what gets developed and how best to go about it. Our team uses Scrum / Kanban methodologies and practices agile principles that require you to participate in planning, refinement of stories, and delivery of sprints. You will form part of a community of experienced digital practitioners that share best practices, promote our work, collaborate to solve problems, and encourage career growth.

 

Key deliverables include:

 

  • Leverages Adobe Launch tag management system to implement analytics beacons and tagging, including third party tags, extensions and pixels across all applicable digital products.

  • Conducts tracking feasibility assessments and provides data collection recommendations based on unique digital property technologies and framekworks (i.e. Single Page Applications, Vue JS, etc.).

  • Relied upon to act as technical lead for data collection modernization and migration initiatives (i.e. Adobe Experience Platform Web SDK, Customer Journey Analytics). Also relied on for subject matter expertise in emerging digital analytics enablement best practices such as event-driven data layer standardization and Adobe MarTech integration methods.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting events and tags in complex environments with the use of JavaScript, XML, HTML and CSS (the more complex cases).

  • Regularly reviews release notes for key products (i.e. Adobe, Google) to understand implications, maintenance requirements and opportunities to proactively plan for (addressing with actions or recommendations).

  • Assisting with documentation as required.

 

Experience and qualifications: 

 

  • Substantial knowledge of and experience in front-end web development technologies, namely JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.

  • 3+ years of experience with tag management systems and digital analytics and marketing technologies and tagging implementation.

  • 2+ years of experience with Adobe Launch tag management system (with Adobe certifications being an asset, as well as experience with other Adobe Experience Cloud and Platform technologies).

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or other related combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledgeable about Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks, mobile and email, and can make recommendations.

  • Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, and network analytics tools (i.e., well-versed in the use of browser-based debugging tools, JSON for debugging responses, debugging tools for native apps like Charles Proxy, API tools like Postman)

  • A solid grasp of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.

  • Strong communicator and organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate and closely partner with colleagues in several different business functions.
