Position Title: Traveling Superintendent

Job Classification: Salaried/Full-time

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (or as job dictates)

Reporting Relationship: Mill Creek Vice President

Location: Remote/Various job sites 

  

Primary Accountabilities:

The Mill Creek Superintendent will help plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects. This position will be responsible for managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. Makes decisions within defined limits of authority and consults supervisor on other decisions. U.S. citizenship is required for this opportunity. This position does require travel where required, and a corporate card issued for travel expenses. 

  

Major Duties:

  • Maintain clear lines of communication between project managers, client personnel, subcontractor, and vendor personnel. Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and others as required.
  • Issue direction to subcontractor/vendor personnel based on contract documents.
  • Create and adjust a weekly detailed look-ahead schedule as it relates to the overall project schedule.
  • Schedule and attend inspections and walk-throughs with clients, inspecting authorities, designers, etc.
  • Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.
  • Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEOC for a small project or a major portion/all a larger project depending on specific project assignment.
  • Approves and/or records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports, logs, and tracking reports.
  • Supports the project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating activities with the owner, architect, and governing authorities.
  • Participates in the negotiation process with the owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes.
Requirements

  

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (highly preferred).
  • 5 to 10+ years of construction experience with at least 5 of those years as a superintendent or similar role, preferably on federal contracts
  • Experience in and ability to utilize the 3-phase inspection program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and track record of contract compliance in government construction.
  • Must have an instructor-signed OSHA      30-hour training card.
  • Must be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.
  • Must be capable of interpreting a critical path schedule and construction drawings.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • USACE CQM desired
  • Ability to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management to projects.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software desired (Primavera is preferred, but MS Project is also acceptable)
  • Ability to understand document changes and impact to the project schedule.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check.
