Job description

Position Summary:

The DevOps Architect is responsible for leading the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and automated DevOps frameworks that support continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and observability across CAQH applications. This role partners with cross-functional teams to ensure modern, cloud-native deployment practices and plays a key role in shaping enterprise DevOps strategy.

The DevOps Architect is a full-time, remote, exempt position and reports to the VP, Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure.

Base Salary: $170,000 - $190,000.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead enterprise-wide CI/CD frameworks using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Architect Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools to provision and manage Azure cloud environments.
  • Establish standards for automation, deployment, and monitoring to ensure high availability, reliability, and security.
  • Champion best practices for containerized application development and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
  • Drive adoption of observability tools and practices including Azure Monitor, Grafana, and Prometheus.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure DevOps aligns with business and architectural goals.
  • Lead incident response efforts, root cause analysis, and system resilience initiatives.
  • Mentor engineering teams and contribute to DevOps capability maturity across CAQH.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for architectures, workflows, and deployment processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend new DevOps tools, platforms, and technologies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have direct reports. However, the DevOps Architect will provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to cross-functional teams and may mentor junior engineers.

Skills: 

  • Expertise designing and managing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
  • Deep knowledge of Azure cloud services and secure cloud architecture.
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Advanced experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS).
  • Strong understanding of identity/access management, secrets management, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with modern monitoring and alerting tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Ability to communicate architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience operating in Agile/Scrum environments.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation roles.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an architectural or strategic DevOps leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering secure, scalable, and automated cloud-native platforms.
  • Experience in enterprise or regulated environments is strongly preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Azure DevOps Architect or related cloud certification preferred.
