Job description

About the Role

As a Senior Medical Writer, you'll report directly to the Associate Creative Director and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Creative, Strategy, Account Service, and Project Management. You will:

 
  • Translate complex scientific and medical concepts into clear, engaging content.
  • Craft a variety of medical writing materials such as slide decks, websites, branded campaigns, and patient education tools.
  • Ensure all content is medically accurate, audience-appropriate, on-brand, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to internal brainstorming and briefing sessions to shape effective communication strategies.
  • Support editorial processes from initial draft to final proofing with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Provide feedback and help enhance internal content development practices.
  • Collaborate with team members across disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Participate in new business pitches and proposals with well-researched medical insights.
  • Engage in occasional client-facing activities, including presenting your work.
  • Build and maintain relationships with medical directors and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on current trends in medical education and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Get involved in non-medical and consumer healthcare content where applicable.
  • Support faculty engagement, manuscript development, and information gathering.
  • Uphold high editorial standards through consistent proofreading and quality control.

  • Experience in medical writing.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-level medical communication work.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort with client-facing responsibilities and presentations.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Collaborative mindset with proven ability to work effectively in team settings.
 

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience in conceptual development or non-medical content creation.
  • Graduate degree or PhD in a life sciences discipline.
  • Deep understanding of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.
