Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

KingsIsle Entertainment is seeking a 3D Environment Artist who will make interesting and engaging props for our MMO projects. The perfect candidate is experienced in hand painting textures and has a keen understanding of how to get the most out of low poly models.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 3D model and texture creation for stylized Props and objects using 3DSmax and Adobe Photoshop as well as other proprietary art tools.
  • Work from provided concept or from verbal / written art direction.
  • Work with art lead as well as writers, designers and other environment artist to make sure the prop fits the needs of those departments as well as works appropriately for the environment it will be placed in.
  • Undergo review stages of the assets and further polish process as requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years creating professional environment and prop assets in the game industry.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Photoshop, and 3DSMax (2013).
  • Experience in modeling and texturing low poly objects and assets (2500 triangles or less for models) (1024 x 1024 or less for textures).
  • Proficient with creating hand-painted textures.
  • Strong UV layout skills.
  • Experience with the Gambryo game engine is a plus.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask requirements and feedback gathering across disciplines, assess risk, define priorities, and resolve problems while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent critical and analytical skills, and a high attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Demonstrates characteristics to work respectfully and effectively with all levels of employees within the Art Team as well as with other departments to achieve mutual goals.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and positive under pressure and meet tight deadlines at all times.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, accuracy, use good artistic judgment, prioritization skills and be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • High degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
