About the role:
We’re looking for a Senior Application Engineer (Salesforce) to help develop, maintain, and enhance our Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud platforms. This role focuses on integrating these systems with our Student Management System (Banner) using Informatica, along with a range of other internal systems. You’ll bring solid experience in Salesforce development and a strong understanding of CRM and marketing automation. You’ll also be comfortable with hands-on coding, system configuration, and solving technical issues. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you'll play a key part in delivering practical, high-quality solutions that support our goals.
Accountabilities:
Salesforce Development and Integration
Accountability: Lead the development and customisation of Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud solutions, ensuring seamless integration with other systems including the Student Management systems via integration platforms.
Expected Outcomes: High-quality, scalable, and maintainable Salesforce solutions that enhance business processes and improve user experience.
System Configuration and Maintenance
Accountability: Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Salesforce systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Expected Outcomes: A well-maintained Salesforce environment that supports business operations and minimises downtime.
Technical Expertise and Support
Accountability: Provide technical expertise and support for Salesforce-related projects, including troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing solutions.
Expected Outcomes: Timely resolution of technical issues and continuous improvement of system performance and functionality.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
Accountability: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, and student services, to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure successful project delivery.
Expected Outcomes: Effective collaboration and communication with stakeholders, resulting in solutions that meet business needs and enhance user satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting
Accountability: Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all development activities, system configurations, and project progress.
Expected Outcomes: Comprehensive documentation that supports effective system management and compliance with audit requirements.
Educational and Advisory Role | Training and Knowledge Sharing
Accountability: Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on Salesforce best practices and system usage.
Expected Outcomes: Increased user proficiency and adoption of Salesforce solutions, leading to improved business outcomes.
Strategic Planning Support
Accountability: Contribute to the development of the IT roadmap, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives.
Expected Outcomes: A forward-thinking IT strategy that leverages Salesforce capabilities to drive business growth and innovation.
Who you are:
Tertiary qualifications or other formal training in IT, Computing Studies, or Information Systems.
5+ years of proven experience working as a Salesforce Developer.
Certified Salesforce Platform Developer I & II, Marketing Cloud Developer, or other relevant certifications preferred.
Proficiency in Salesforce development, including Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning (Aura & Web) components.
Strong knowledge in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder and marketing automation best practices.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline tools is a plus.
Familiarity with emerging Salesforce AI capabilities—particularly Agentforce—would be an advantage, as we see AI playing an increasing role in the future of our platforms. While deep expertise isn’t expected, a basic awareness of this evolving area is advantageous.
This is a full-time, permanent position with hybrid flexibility to work from home and a campus near you. Preferred locations are Sydney and Melbourne.
