Job description

Who are we?

The Motley Fool is a purpose-driven financial services company on a mission to make the world smarter, happier, and richer. For 30 years we’ve been helping people make better investment decisions through transparency, education, and Foolish fun. We’re a fast-moving, collaborative team that values high-quality work, curiosity, and initiative. We care deeply about what we do, and we’re driven by the impact our work has on real people’s financial futures.

What does this team do?

The Content/Editorial team is the voice of The Motley Fool. We monitor the markets, research companies, and translate complex financial information into accessible, meaningful guidance for investors. Our team blends financial expertise with engaging storytelling to help our members navigate the ever-changing investment landscape with confidence.

What will you do in this role?
  • Actively monitor financial news, market trends, and economic indicators that impact our coverage and recommendations

  • Own the live market news feed—coordinating with full-time investors and contractors to deliver timely updates across global market hours (eventually 24/7 coverage)

  • Surface insights from market activity to help shape editorial content and member communications

  • Collaborate closely with research, editorial, and programming teams to ensure key developments are reflected in content strategy and messaging

  • Quickly flag breaking news or events that may warrant a shift in investment guidance

  • Adapt and refine AI prompts to deliver fast, accurate coverage and market analysis

  • Contribute to member-facing materials—such as newsletters, articles, and special reports—that interpret market events

  • Seek ways to improve how we deliver market coverage, using new tools, formats, or platforms

What do you need to apply?
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and investing fundamentals

  • Excellent writing and editing skills—you can explain complex topics with clarity

  • Experience in financial journalism, market analysis, or a related field

  • Strong news judgment and the ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Familiarity with AI tools for content generation and analysis

  • Collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently

Nice to haves:
  • Background in stock analysis or investing

  • Experience at a financial publication or investment research firm

  • Familiarity with livestream content or real-time news coverage

  • Knowledge of SEO and digital content strategy

  • Exposure to a variety of investment philosophies
