Job Description

The Financial Aid Associate II, under general supervision, performs highly responsible and varied administrative and technical financial aid duties or specialized activities. The Financial Aid Associate II assists financial aid staff and student workers with processing questions. Work hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm or as work requirements indicate with occasional before/after hours during peak times, as well as occasional Saturday events. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Technical financial aid duties such as ISIR suspends, reviewing duplicate records and sending information to Admissions, purging and requesting ISIRS for duplicate records, testing Banner patches, sending/requesting batch or individual files via EdConnect

  • Reviews student loan default, Pell, and federal loan limit flags

  • Works Pell and Direct Loan rejects and reconciliation reports

  • Processes TEACH Grant awards in Banner and COD

  • Reviews and processes daily packaging reports

  • Reviews and processes the Processing Daily Audit Report tabs to review student eligibility

  • Processes Parent and Graduate PLUS loan applications

  • Processor of Week duties: answering fa_help emails, loan revision request forms, book loans

  • Processes Cancellation of Pre-Registration and Drop for Non-payment and other ad-hoc reports

  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting with student traffic via phone, email, appointments, and events

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years of related experience preference in higher education or financial aid

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism and a customer service mindset

  • Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification, rules and regulations

  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs

  • Ability to work individually or as a team in a dynamic organization

  • Good interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend, give and follow both written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to organize and make decisions

  • Ability to relate well with a diverse student population

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability to use tact, diplomacy and judgment in dealing with all customers

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others 

The target base hourly compensation is $20.03 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
