Position Overview:

The Senior Director Collateral Risk Policy - Condo/Co-op will be responsible for collateral risk activities for the Single Family Acquisitions Business and report to the VP.  This individual will establish efficient and effective processes to manage collateral risk associated with condominium and cooperative projects and will drive and implement the condo/coop collateral risk policies and strategy. The Senior Director will manage a team of employees. This person will regularly interact with leadership and with Freddie Mac’s seller/servicers, other industry stakeholders and with FHFA on the effectiveness of SF collateral risk policies and performance.

 The position can be based onsite in either McLean, VA or Plano, TX.

Your Impact:

Support the VP in establishing and driving appropriate collateral risk strategies for condominium and cooperative projects in alignment with Division and Enterprise strategy. Drive collaboration across policy, innovation and credit analytics teams, ensure appropriate monitoring and escalation of emerging risks and development and execution of timely and applicable response strategies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead team of highly skilled condo and coop policy development and underwriting professionals to develop Company’s condo/coop collateral risk policies, ensure accurate risk assessments, compliance with Company risk appetite and efficient workflow management.
  • Foster a culture of innovation. Champion development and execution of a strategic roadmap leveraging innovative approaches that effectively manage risk while simplifying the loan manufacturing process. 
  • Ensure processes are in place to provide awareness, monitoring and responses to address emerging risks and changes in competitive landscape. 
  • Identify, assess and maintain appropriate risk controls and reporting to ensure business strategies are achieved within the established Company risk appetite. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer experience.  Provide expertise in advising and interacting with customers to address market needs.
  • Ensure effective recruitment, development, performance, and retention of team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, with 15+ years of overall relevant experience, with 8+ years of management experience
  • MBA in Finance, Business, related quantitative field or equivalent experience is preferred
  • 10+years of experience, ideally in Condominium Risk Management and operating at or near the executive level
  • 10+ years of experience in primary mortgage lending or with organizations providing mortgage lending products/services
  • 10 years of deep understanding of condominium and cooperative project risks and underwriting  
  • Experience in researching and developing condominium policy preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience with strategic use of decision engines or models to drive business decisions across risk and profitability
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups of partners
  • Ability to translate analytics into simple concepts for communicating with senior management audience
  • Ability to empower and inspire action through interpersonal skills
  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; build teams and consensus while working ethically and with integrity

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $208,000 - $312,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
