Role Overview

As an Automation Specialist, you will be the linchpin for automation initiatives across the company—partnering with Engineering, Product, Sales, and Solution Enablement teams. You will define, design, and deliver technical solutions for customer automation use cases, leveraging both workflow automation software and custom scripting. You will serve as a consultant on emerging AI automation trends, develop proof-of-concept demos, and empower all parts of the business to leverage cutting-edge automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Solution Design

  • Collaborate with the Solution Enablement Team to understand customer automation use cases and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Conduct discovery sessions with internal and external stakeholders to capture business needs and automation requirements.

Automation Development

  • Work closely with the Engineering Team to design and build end-to-end automations using workflow automation platforms and custom code (Python, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Integrate various APIs, systems, and data sources to deliver robust automation solutions.

AI & Automation Consulting

  • Act as the internal expert on the latest AI-driven automations and automation technologies.
  • Advise teams across the company on practical, high-impact automation use cases and best practices.

Proof-of-Concepts & Demos

  • Rapidly build and iterate on proof-of-concept automations and demo software for Sales, Solution Enablement, and Engineering to showcase features and capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling technical presentations or demonstrations to both internal teams and customers.

Cross-Functional Enablement

  • Work day-to-day with teams in Engineering, Product, Sales, and Solution Enablement to unlock automation opportunities.
  • Drive the adoption of automation best practices across the organization.

A Day in the Life

Morning:

  • Review and triage new automation requests from Solution Enablement and Sales.
  • Join a scoping call with a customer and Solution Enablement to clarify use case requirements.

Late Morning:

  • Draft a technical spec for a new workflow automation, outlining the business logic, data flows, and technology components.
  • Sync with Engineering to discuss hand-off and code integration points (Python/JavaScript/API endpoints).

Afternoon:

  • Develop a prototype of a new AI-powered automation, testing integrations with third-party APIs.
  • Build a demo for an upcoming sales pitch—showcasing the automation’s impact and unique features.
  • Host an internal “office hours” session for Product and Sales teams to answer questions about automation capabilities.

End of Day:

  • Document lessons learned, update reusable automation patterns, and share knowledge with the broader team.
  • Scan industry sources for emerging automation and AI technologies to keep your toolbox sharp.
