YOUR MISSION 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in the accounting close and preparation of Financial Statements. This role requires a proactive professional who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Month-end journal entries and reconciliations (Payroll, Taxes, Cap Assets, Prepaids, Loans, Accrued Liabilities, PS/SaaS Revenue, etc)
  • Monthly review of G/L accounts
  • Preparation of monthly and annual statements (BS, IS and CF)
  • Lead annual UK financial audit and UK tax returns
  • Support the corporate consolidated audit, preparing necessary schedules and documentation, and liaising with external auditors
  • Ensuring preparation and compliance of tax returns (CDN GST/HST, US State Tax, UK VAT) and assisting with Canadian and US income tax filings
  • Assisting where needed with AP (Employee Expenses and Credit Cards) and overseeing data quality
  • Assist with bank and investor reporting needs
  • Implement and document processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and drive efficiencies
  • Research and implement new accounting policies/standards when necessary 
  • Ensure revenue recognition and deferred revenue is accurate (IFRS 15, ASC 606)
  • Assist the Finance Manager where needed and participate in ad hoc projects/audits

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Accounting Major (5+ years of relevant experience)
  • Strong technical skills and and ability to analyze financial data
  • High level of detail, accuracy, and organization skills
  • Team player with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong sense of accomplishment, initiative and high personal standards
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, possess good judgment and uphold confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Intacct/Avalara an asset but not required
