We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Kotlin Backend Developer to design and build scalable, secure, and cloud-native backend systems. In this contractor role, you will work directly with our client, collaborating with DevOps, frontend, and product teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.

This position is ideal for someone with strong Kotlin and Java/Spring Boot expertise, experience in distributed systems, and hands-on AWS knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot
Build and optimize microservices in a distributed, cloud-native architecture
Leverage AWS managed services (e.g., EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB)
Deploy applications using Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
Collaborate on infrastructure automation with Terraform or CloudFormation
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and implement application security best practices
Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and team mentorship
Drive performance tuning and contribute to the evolution of the tech stack

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of professional experience in Java/Spring development
Professional currently based in the US - Must
US Citizen or Green Card Holder – Must
Strong expertise in Spring Boot
Hands-on experience with AWS (certification not required)
Proficiency in microservices architecture, Docker, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes or ECS
Experience with both SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB) databases
Familiarity with AWS networking/security (IAM, VPCs, subnets) is a strong plus
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience with build tools (Maven/Gradle) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills

Nice to Have:

Experience in highly regulated or enterprise environments
Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus)
Exposure to event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS)
