The Position

Intern - Pharma Partnering – Asia Pharma Partnering

**Responsibilities include:**

  • Collaborating with Genentech Research and Development (South San Francisco), Pharma Research and Development (Basel), Research Innovation Centers (Shanghai), Global Product Development (South San Francisco), and Roche China (Shanghai) to help define areas of interest and to assist in developing and executing the partnering strategy.
  • Assisting in sourcing new therapeutic opportunities that align with technology or therapeutic area strategies, and networking with pharma, biotech, venture capitalists, and academia.
  • Supporting the decision-making and deal process, and contributing to presentations and recommendations to senior management.
  • Participating in scientific and strategic assessments and cross-functional due diligence reviews.
  • Aiding in the creation of novel deal structures and the negotiation of contracts with potential partners.
  • Occasionally traveling for negotiations and building coalitions of support for key deals within Genentech and Roche.
  • Learning from and being coached by Asia Pharma Partnering colleagues on all aspects of managing deal and diligence teams towards data-driven decisions.

**Qualifications:**

  • Currently pursuing an advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, business (MBA), or a related field.
  • Strong interest in business development, with some experience or coursework related to negotiating and concluding transactions in healthcare being a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Energetic, results-oriented, self-starter with strong communication skills, collaborative mindset, and ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical research, development, and commercialization processes is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese languages, with strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent business instincts with some knowledge of business analytics and valuation methodologies.
